I built my chops the old fashioned way shooting feature length assignments around the world for National Geographic Magazine. While the stories varied, the mandate was always the same: work with every kind of person under any kind of condition and create timeless images for a client with the highest visual standards on earth.

This experience informs my commercial work which blends art direction with a deep understanding of how to make real and believable images. I want people to look at the photographs I create for companies and feel inspired, not sold to. In this sense, my commercial work is often very personal and leads to long-term collaborations with like minded clients who have stories to tell.

While my roots are in still photography I have become well versed in cinematography through a decade long collaboration with colorist and post-production expert Jerome Thelia. Together, we co-own Merge, a production company that inhabits the sweet spot between still photography and film making by merging the paradigms of both disciplines. We are currently in the final stages of production on BOUNCE, a feature documentary that takes us to the far reaches of the globe and the deep recesses of our ancient past to answer the question: Why do we play ball?

At home, I live with my wife and two children in a 220 year old farmhouse with a big post beam barn on two beautiful acres just outside of Portland, Maine, a place that has always triggered an instinctual sense belonging in me. My family, my home, and Maine ground me and fuel the boundless sense of possibility and hope I bring to my work.

I continually marvel at how endless the opportunities are. Now is the time to start exploring them.
